Bpal order 3

I'm addicted... lalalala

Luna Sanguinem

A scent of dreams and portents, strange omens, and palpable mystery. The blood moon passing through the earth’s shadow: mugwort, moonwort, and black lotus reddened by pimento, smoked carnation, red musk, and red rose petals, all shadowed by tobacco absolute, bourbon vanilla, Peru balsam, leather accord, and myrrh.

I keep smelling my hand where I placed this. I can't figure out how to explain this scent or why I spent 23 dollars on something I was unsure of. I think I keep smelling it though because it smells like tobacco. But to me this smells like fall. Like earth and tobacco and leather and a cold snap. It smells like an older man. It's not something I would wear. but it's pleasing.

tobacco absolute, bourbon vanilla and leather... A true addict has to have the limited editions. I paid 23 dollars for this on the blood moon.

Big one because I put it on my pillow at night. - It smells like sea air. I don't know how they do it. When I received my  bottle I opened it up and said yup, the ocean.
And for the first time I got an Imp pack, not 6 that I picked out myself: The most beloved pack includes:

—Miskatonic University (substituted March 18th, 2014)- The scent of Irish coffee, dusty tomes and polished oakwood halls.

Oh god this is lovely. But it mostly smells like Irish Cream.  I have yet to smell the dusty tomes and oakwood. I have held off finishing this for so long because I never put this one on. Its nice to smell, but I guess i don't even want to try smelling like Irish coffee and dusty tomes.

—Dorian a sweet gilded blossom lying over a twisted and corrupted core. A Victorian fougere with three pale musks and dark, sugared vanilla tea.

I don't really like Dorian, even though its the name of my 13 year old cat. I think it smells like old people. Disappointed to say the least, I've heard so much about how unisex and nice this scent is.

It did wear well, when I sniffed my wrist I could still smell it well into the afternoon. It dried down to a sweet vanilla smell.

—Embalming Fluid A light, pure scent: white musk, green tea, aloe and lemon.
I really smell the lemon in this. I'm not big on lemon. I'm more of an orange oil type of girl. I once read a review that said this oil smelt like dirt on them. To me it's more lemon pledge. And now I can honestly say: "No sir, I do not like lemon."

—Morocco The intoxicating perfume of exotic incenses wafting on warm desert breezes. Arabian spices wind through a blend of warm musk, carnation, red sandalwood and cassia.
At first I thought this was nice. Warm and spicy. But I didn't think it lasted as long as it should of, within five hours it was gone. And the dry done was very faint and odd.

—Sin - amber, sandalwood, black patchouli and cinnamon.
I smell the pachouli in this. It smells like a head shop. I think I sorta like it. when I put it on my wrist it dripped down like blood. For some reason I like the thicker oils. But I don't really smell this on me. and what I do smell is just patchouli

—Snake Oil-
By far, our most popular scent! Magnetic, mysterious, and exceedingly sexual in nature. A blend of exotic Indonesian oils sugared with vanilla.

I read somewhere that there is a difference between new and aged snake oil. I'm not enamored with this. I don't get it. It smells like something else.. a familiar smell. But it isn't intoxicating. Where I put it on the back of my hand is shiney.

It did last a long time. I smelt it all though the night. This one might grow on me.

And my SIX free imps. Oh god. They know how to turn people into addicts. ( So let me get this right, my experience has been: six imps = two free. One full size and six imps= 4 free and two full size and six imps= six free!?!

Inconsolable: lily of the valley, hyacinth, calamus, muguet, hydrangea, and elemi.
On first whif before I had even looked it up, I said out loud, "Oh grief smells good!" A very light femine scent. Very spring. I'm usually not one for florals, but this one is nice. It sorta reminds me of an Avon perfume of my youth. That might not be very big selling point... But this is the one I reach for most often. i have even toyed with buying a Imp pack of soft florals.

.  A decadent, deep perfume, lusty and luxuriant. The scent evokes images of velvet-lined Old West cathouses, tightly laced corsets, rustling petticoats and coquettish snarls of pleasure. Bawdy plum with amaretto, burgundy wine and black currant.

Upon first sniff: It smells very sweet. I think I like this game of smell then look up what they're suppose to bed. I would expect more fruit less booze. It smells like fruit candy, like lifesavers or gummy bears.

The Bpal forum sings this scents praises, but I think it smells cheap. Like those fruity sprays you buy at Walmart or Target. I put it on and ran some errands, came home took a shower and put it in the nope box. Then after reading the reviews gave it another go. Still a nope.

The devil’s herb, which he cultivates with skill and pleasure. According to lore, the spirit of this plant may take the form of a breathtaking, achingly beautiful woman, deadly to behold. This scent is a tribute to such a dark and magnificent plant: a rich green and floral blend, earthy and haunting.
This scent is Absinthe green. I know I remember looking at this scent. It initially smells earthy, but after a few seconds I smelt pine. Like Pine cleaner pine. This will probably go in the probably not box.

In Hermetic alchemy, brimstone is one of the Three Heavenly Substances, one of the primary alchemical Principles  It represents the strength of will and the vigor of passion, and it is a symbol of the process of fermentation. A smoky, gritty blend, husky and gray.

When I opened it I was expecting something akin to Cathedral. Its not as smoky! I feel like cleaning product smell here too. Not horrible.

I already own this one, and I do no like it. thanks, but no thanks. Next time can I please have an Imp of one I own and like? Well now there's two of them in the nope box.

This is the captured scent of a cold, moonless night, lost deep within the darkest wood. Haunting and desolate, this scent evokes images of fairy tale tragedy and half-remembered nightmares. Thick, viscous pine with ambergris, black musk, juniper and cypress.

Strangely the one with pine in it doesn't smell as piney as the others. It smells like plants. A little more pine comes out on the skin. It smells pleasant, but I wouldn't wear it.

Contact Dermatitis

So I’m allergic to the oils. I have raised rashes on both my inside elbows where I was putting the oils. I thought it was just one, Ladon. Because I wore it Wednesday and I put a lot on. But this morning I put Tavern of hell on my bra in the middle, and now I have the same rash between my boobs. And it itches. I might die… I took a picture of it and sent it to people asking if if I had Measles. (It’s funny because I’m over vaccinated. When I show people how many times I’ve had my MMR they’re like yeah, you’re good. I think it’s because I moved in high school and they made me get vaccinated and then I went to college and they made me get vaccinated.)
The good thing is I’ll save a lot of money. I guess I could still defuse them and maybe wear them in my hair. I am mostly hair after all.

BPAL Order 2

I feel that I'm starting to get a grasp of what I'm into. I also feel I'm starting to get obsessed. I made a joke on tumblr if it was possible to crowdfund for BPAL oils.  I know I like clean and fruit. I know I do not likes roses or honey. ( I think honey smells like sweat.)

This time I got the full sized Tavern of hell. I put it on a wash cloth and throw it in the dryer with my clothes.
The winners:

dragon’s blood resin, golden apple, apple blossom, white musk and hyacinth. Out of the box this was my favorite. I was wearing it before I even was home from the Post Office. Heavenly (And I learned something. I didn't know Ladon was the dragon that guards the golden apples in Greek Mythology.) This smells like fresh cut apples and dries down to a very plesant white musk scent.

The crisp, clean scent of green tea touched with lemon verbena and honeysuckle. This is one I had high hopes for. It does deliver and I would buy a full size.

A woody, musky-weird base glooping over with blackberry preserves, a twist of mandarin, strawberry juice, pulverized watermelon, and a handful of smushed gardenia petals.
I'm on the fence about this one. It is good, but not on the forefront to buy a full size. I think it sorta smells like cough syrup in the bottle.

blood orange, neroli, and raspberry. Sweet but drys down to a nice smell. I also have learned what neroli is since becoming bpal obsessed. It's the oil from the blossom of the bitter orange tree. To me that means this oil is orange, orange raspberry. This more than likely will be the next full size I buy.

The losers:
White ginger, jasmine, and a touch of vanilla and apricot. Out of the bottle this smells to me like a really crunchy health food store. The kind that is really legit and not a chain like Sprouts or Whole Foods.

Venerable and solemn: the scent of incense smoke wafting through an ancient church. A true ecclesiatical blend of pure resins. I sorta hate blends that don't tell you what's in them. What kind of BS is that? I probably will never buy Black Cat because of that. But I do like incense more than anyone else I know. And I did grow up Catholic and I enjoy a good swinging of frankincense and Myrrh. But this just smells like smoke. I think the smell gave me a headache. Why would anyone want to smell like burnt? I tried opening it and smelling it along side Hellfire because that two had " the lingering incense smoke of their black mass". But no. I can still smell Cathedral like chimney smoke after it is put away.

And this time I got 4 free emps thrown in!

Black algae, drooping seaweed, salty brine, and crushed coral. I like this one, but I feel it smells too much like store bought bar soap, maybe Irish Spring. This is part of the HP Lovecraft Picnic in Arkham line. I was also happy to get this one because I was interested in the aquatic smells. This one is very fresh and clean, a ting gender neutral. I need to wear it to see what it drys down to.

Skin musk and honey, blood-red rose, orange blossom, white peach, red apple, frankincense and myrrh. When I opened this one up to review it as soon as I enhaled I said this is the one that has honey in it... It doesn't smell horrible on. But that good ol' frankincense and myrrh comes out stronger than the fruit scents when I test it on my hand. I feel I need to wear this one more as well.

Crisp sea air, kelp, and climbing vines, flame-singed cedarwood and juniper branches, cypress boughs, alder wood, violets, selino, parsley, glistritha, and white sage.
This one smells very similar to Deep ones to me. I assume its the sea elements. This would be nice defused as a room scent. Very fresh and clean. I don't really smell the flame singed cedar or any smokey elements. This smell like a clean man to me.
A beer flavored with marsh arrow grass, yew berries, purple foxglove, and giant hogweed.
What is magical about some of these scents is that even though I don't know what I'd do with them, when you smell them and read the description you think to yourself, "yeah I get that." It does smell like beer. but wait, there is sorta a outdoorsy after a rain smell to it as well.Since I live in the desert I am unfamilar with what Marsh arrow grass, yew berries, purple foxglove and giant hogweed smell like. A  search for hogweed smell finds that it smells like pigs... and slobber.

BPAL order.

I recently received my first Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab order. I ordered 6 Imp's ears. (4 dollars a piece or 6 for 22.)

 apple, rose, and lemon.
I thought this was going to be a sweet wearable fragrance and it isn't. I think it's the rose the ruins it for me. It has a weird almost urine smell. And i can pick out the rose and the lemon in it, but it isn't pleasing.

The scent of absinthe, lightning, stormclouds, and laudanum crashing through a veil of soft Victorian oriental perfume.

I had to give this one some time. Initially I thought I didn't like th smell of Absinthe. But it wore down to a gentle sweet perfume scent ( I can only assume the soft Victorian oriental perfume)

A rugged, warm blend of vanilla, balsam and sassafras layered over Virginia cedar.
I need to give this one some more wear.

A swirl of pipe tobacco, hot leather, ambergris, dark musk and the lingering incense smoke from their Black Mass.

The innocence of orange blossom tainted by the beguiling scents of ginger and patchouli
Weaerable. Very thick. I'm not sure how much of  vixen I feel like wearing it though. More head shop hippie. I do tend to wear this one and tavern of Hell over the others.

White gardenia, ambergris bouquet, lavender fougere, orange blossom, melissa, tobacco flower, coriander, ebony wood, ylang ylang, absinthe and aged whiskey.
This is my favorite. I might buy a big bottle. I know it has Absinthe in it too, but I don't even know what else is in Mary Shelley. I think it's the most wearable and I have even dabbed it on clothes and put them in the dryer. I'm buying a full size in my next order.

And because they are known to throw a couple emp's in for you, I also got these:

Frankincense, rosemary, lavender, neroli, and verbena.

This is one I'd infuse as a room smell over wearing. it has a very clean plant like smell. In fact I think it reminds me of some oil I once bought that came with a clay defuser.

sage, carnation and cedar with lavender, vanilla, white musk and leather.

Obviously a very manly scent. When I put it on I just smelt wood and leather and almost a faint burnt scent like fireplace smoke.
